Ski France Holiday; Val D’Isere France March 2 – 14, 2012

The chosen destination for this past trip was Val d’Isere in the Haute Savoie region of France. Val d’Isere is my favorite alpine village and is where Jean Claude Killy became famous. Having skied at Val d’Isere at least 8-10 times we have a good knowledge of the slopes and shared our experience of skiing in such a fantastic location with our group. After many years of skiing at the best resorts Europe has to offer, we have deemed Val d’Isere to be one of the top two resorts in the Alps for skiing. The terrain is extremely varied and there is something for everyone. The resort complex is massive in size and is known for having some of the best off-piste skiing in the Alps. This region also gets the best and most snow in all the Alps. For those interested in some memorable off-piste skiing we arranged for a personal friend of ours who lives near Val d’Isere, and is also a World-Class alpine guide to take some of our group on some guided off-piste trips during our stay. The cost of the guide was not included in the cost of our package.  The skiing was amazing!

Our trip started in Geneva Switzerland, where after landing, we took a private bus directly to Val d’Isere where we spent 7 nights including six days of skiing. At the end of our week in Val d’Isere we took a one hour bus ride from Val d’Isere to Bourg St. Maurice where we took the TGV (High speed train) to Paris where we spent 4 nights in a quaint hotel just a few blocks from Notre Dame Cathedral. We departed from Charles de Gaulle airport in France for home.

There where skiers of all levels in our ski group and Val d’Isere had plenty of terrain for all ski levels. We have found that spending some time together sightseeing at the end of the trip is a good way to finish off a wonderful ski vacation and this trip was no exception.
