The Italian Getaway
Venice, Italian Alps, Florence, Rome and the Amalfi Coast
Italy is everyone’s favorite destination! Have you ever dreamed of floating on a Gondola down the Grand Canal in Venice? Venice, perhaps the most unique city in all of Europe, resonates with charm. The quiet flow of the canals, and the winding walkways are the only way to discover the Renaissance architecture, and the fabulous cuisine of this very special city in the northern region of Italy.
Following our Venice experience, our travels will take us to the Italian Alps. In the heart of the Dolomites we will relax in a pleasant spa hotel at the base of the extraordinary rocky peaks of the Sella Ronda. You will enjoy a buffet breakfast and a four-course gourmet dinner every night. By day, you will have the opportunity to hike and bike from village to village. The spectacular views, breathtaking scenery, and the lovely country side will enhance your appreciation of this beautiful region of Europe. As the chairlifts of the famous ski resorts carry you up to the heights of the alps, imagine hiking past a meadow of wild flowers, amongst sharp mountain peaks, crystal clear lakes, bubbling streams, and descending into the delightful towns nestled in the valley. This will be your enchanted experience.
The enjoyment continues as we travel by train, enjoying a delightful picnic on our voyage to Italy’s famed region of Tuscany. The red roof tops of Florence, with the Arno River dividing the city, and its many bridges like the Ponte Vecchio, the same walked by Dante, Michelangelo & Machiavelli, make this destination a highlight of our travels. Michelangelo’s David, the magnificent Il Duomo, the Uffizi gallery, and the best gelato, leather goods, and outdoor markets in the world, make Florence a favorite for the most seasoned traveler, as well as those of us that are experiencing Europe for our very first time.
Our adventure resumes as we hop aboard the train to one of the greatest and most ancient cities in the world; Rome. We will explore the historic sites and shopping the great city has to offer, and there are endless great outdoor restaurants to enjoy. The sightseeing will include the Colosseum, the Forum, Circus Maximus, Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon, St. Peter’s Basilica and Vatican City, just to name a few of the historic sites, and we’ll walk through the Trastevere District eating at some of Roma’s best restaurants, and, of course, indulging in gelato (and more shopping).
Our final destination will be the Amalfi Coast. We will spend our nights in Sorrento, and spend our days on the Isle of Capri, then Amalfi and Positano. If you desire, you might want to take a short train ride up the coast to see the ancient Roman city of Pompeii. There will be plenty of fine dining and shopping for those interested. If you have had enough, you can sit back and relax while sipping the local espresso, favorite wines and Limoncello. These picturesque towns are the perfect way to end your journey! There is no better way to finish up your Adventure! See you there!!!
